My journey with the costume construction degree course has led me to further investigate areas of upcycling and sustainability which I have been interested in for most of my life.  I have been able to integrate this ethos into my costumes which have given me the opportunity to create characters which comment on the current social narrative such as Mother Nature who addresses climate change, Miss Haversham regarding Covid and the way the Government managed it and Escamilla who represents women in the corporate world and gender equality.  I have also been able to develop strong design, textile manipulation and dyeing skills to support my ideologies and give my characters strength.
